Build a Relationship of Trust

The ultimate goal of all legislative outreach is to build trust so that we can work with our legislators to craft solutions that work for all constituents. While writing letters and lobbying are great starting points, ongoing engagement strengthens these relationships and creates more opportunities for meaningful collaboration. Your legislators might even recognize you and come to you with future questions!

In our chapter meetings, we strategize on how to foster stronger relationships with your legislators through:

  • Community outreach to engage more constituents
  • Official events like town halls and roundtable discussions
  • Informal meetings over lunch or in a volunteer’s home

As we build trust with our legislators and members of the community, we create space for deeper dialogue surrounding controversial or difficult topics and empower each other to find creative solutions.
